Why Do Trees Outlive Empires?

Hosted by Kyle Peczkowski · Board Certified Master Arborist & Urban Forester

Episode Description

Some of the valley oaks standing in California today were seedlings before the state had a name. In this episode we walk through the biology that lets a tree keep going for centuries: modular growth, compartmentalized decay, and a root system that plays a much longer game than we do.

Then we turn the question around: if you were building something meant to outlast you, what would you actually do differently on a Tuesday? We talk stewardship, patience, and why the people who plant trees rarely sit in their shade.
